Project Description
Airport Sustainability Planning
Client: Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport
As an integration of Sustainability Planning into the Advanced Planning tasks for Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport, the following services were provided by L&B:
- Development of Sustainable Design & Construction Guidelines for Flatworks & Unoccupied Structures
- Development of a Sustainable Airport Operations & Maintenance Manual
- Contribution to the overall Airport Planning & Design Manual in the areas of health, safety, and environment
- Stakeholder Review – Capturing accurate information about key stakeholder operating practices for airside, terminal, and landside operations.
The Sustainability Planning inventory and analyses contributed to the development of sustainable design and construction guidelines for flatworks and unoccupied structures and a sustainable airport operations and maintenance manual. This planning contributed to the overall airport planning and design manual in the areas of health, safety, and environment.
This guidance is pertinent to all aspects of airport development, including civil work projects specific to both the airside and landside areas and unoccupied buildings and structures, which are prevalent at airports. Sustainable practices serve to reduce the environmental impact of developed infrastructure while at the same time creating financial and operational benefits for a development project and social benefits for the region at large.
