King Abdulaziz International Airport
Client: King Abdulaziz International Airport & Appointed Airport Operator
Landrum & Brown has been engaged by the Construction Manager of the new terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah for the planning and provision of Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) services for Phase 1 of the KAIA Development Project.
The three phases of the KAIA Development Project work ultimately towards an airport capacity of 80 million passengers per annum. L&B has previous provided the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) with Airport Master Planning services for this project.
Phase 1 of the KAIA Development Project involves the construction and commissioning of a new 810,000 square meter passenger terminal and 74 associated supporting facilities. These will replace the existing North and South Terminals and associated aging airport infrastructure in order to provide an increased capacity of 30 million passengers per annum along with much-enhanced operational efficiencies and passenger experiences.
Key tasks include:
- Preparation and ongoing review and development of the Strategic ORAT Program and ORAT Plan;
- On-going support to the client and appointed airport operator with the development and implementation of a fully comprehensive ORAT governance and stakeholder engagement program.
- On-going support to the client and appointed airport operator with the ORAT delivery plan to achieve on-time delivery of all facilities, processes, systems and operational capabilities required to enable a successful opening of the new airport operations;
- Planning and implementation of the transfer of operations from old to new terminals.
